It’s Time for the Second Annual Great Tea-ish Bake Off!

That’s right, Sweeteas! It’s finally time to get your baking on!
This year’s bake off is going to be slightly different, which will hopefully result in it being easier and more inspiring to participate in than last year ๐Ÿ˜Š

The Details:

The Bake Off begins on February 7th and will end February 27th. Each week will have a different theme and your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to incorporate tea into your recipe. Any tea, in any way, but it needs to be in there.

The Themes:

Week 1 – Feb 7th-13th:ย  Beverageย  — no, you cannot just steep a cup of tea and call it good. This needs to include a little effort. Think lattes, mixed drinks like cocktails and mocktails, etc.
Week 2 – Feb 14th – Feb 20th:ย  Dessertย  — can be any kind of dessert
Week 3 – Feb 21st – Feb 27th:ย  Entrรฉe or side dishย  — must be a main meal item or a side dish (this is the tricky week!)

How to Participate:

Participation is super easy! All you have to do is make something yummy and post it on social media. Whatever platform you want! Use hashtag #greatteaishbakeoff and tag me (@shopcallmesweetea on IG, FB, and TikTok. @callmesweetea on YouTube and Pinterest) so I can see it and celebrate your awesome creations! If you’re okay with it, I’ll also share your yumminess on my social media accounts ๐Ÿ’›

I’ll be sharing my creations all over my social media platforms and will be posting the recipes here as I go. Make sure to stock up on any teas you might want to use in your recipes! If there’s one thing I learned during last year’s bake off it’s that failures and mistakes are inevitable. BUT, with a little persistence, something delicious will come out of all the hard work! A bit of tea will likely have to be sacrificed in the making of those mistakes though and no one likes to run out of tea! ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ

I can’t wait to see what you create! Until then, may your teacup always be full!

Cheers!
Dani

New Year, New Blog!

Hello Sweetea! Welcome to our BRAND NEW blog!

Say whaaaaaaat?!

That’s right! 2022 is going to be a year of big, awesome additions to Call Me Sweetea and this blog is one of them. I’ll be using this space as a low-key space to connect over a cuppa tea by sharing events and news for the shop, blend highlights, books/television/movie recommendations, Great Tea-ish Bake Off recipes, and more. This space might end up being more personal – especially when talking about recommendations! – so if you’re looking to get to know me (Dani!) a bit better, this might be the place for you.

On that note, there’s quite a few things to share with you!

Loyalty Points

Have you signed up for the BRAND NEW loyalty points program yet? I’m so excited to finally bring this to the shop! Points can be collected in three ways:

– Signing up (30 points)
– Referring somebody to the shop (20 points)
– Purchasing (1 point for every $2 spent)

For every 10 points you collect you’ll be able to take $1 off your order. You can save your points to use on a larger order in the future or take a dollar off here and there as you go. It’s up to you! Just signing up will get you $3 off your next order (for many people, this will mostly cover shipping for orders of 1-3 bags of tea!).

This particular points conversion system may change in the future. I’m hoping in future to be able to add social media sharing, birthdays, and reviews as means to gain points.

YouTube Book Club!

Did you hear that Call Me Sweetea now has a YouTube channel?

There will be regular content over on YouTube with behind the scenes looks at running this tea shop, small business life discussions, tea chats/discussions, and a book club! I’m soooooo excited to finally have a book club space for all of us to gather together and nerd out over what we’re reading. On the first Tuesday of the month I’ll be sharing which book we’ll be reading together. On the last Wednesday of the month we’ll get together LIVE on YouTube to discuss! (The meeting date might be a bit more flexible based on author availability as several months will include discussions with the author! Any schedule changes will be made clear in advance multiple times.)

This month we’re reading Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune. This is an adult fiction novel that explores death and the afterlife in the most charming setting I ever did read: a tea shop that’s essentially a way station for people in the process of crossing over into the afterlife.

We’re meeting on YouTube to discuss Under the Whispering Door at 6pm Pacific time on Wednesday, January 26th. I’d love to see you there! Bring your book, favorite quotes, questions, thoughts, and a big mug of tea!

Upcoming Events!

I am super excited to announce two AMAZING events to keep an eye on this season!

First up, The Great Tea-ish Bake Off is coming back for its second year! Loosely inspired by The Great British Bake Off, this will be a three week challenge hosted here and on Instagram. Each week will have a different theme and you’ll have the whole week to share what you made using the hashtag #greatteaishbakeoff (if you search this tag now on Instagram you’ll see a few recipes made last year!).

The challenge? You MUST use tea in your recipe for every theme. The challenge starts off pretty easy for week one, is still doable but a little more challenging for week two, and will require some creativity for week three.

I’ll be featuring my own recipes here (and possibly on YouTube… I have a TINY kitchen so we’ll see how well I’ll be able to record what I’m making!) and, if permission is granted, I’ll share some other bakers’ recipes here as well for you to try and enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚

The second exciting event coming up is the Oregon Chocolate Festival!

Mr. Sweetea and I will be heading down to Ashland for the Oregon Chocolate Festival March 4th-6th (my birthday!) for this incredible, chocolate themed show. I am SO FREAKING EXCITED! I got into this show in 2020 but due to personal reasons I was unable to attend. Now the festival is back in person and I ready with chocolate tea and enthusiasm! If you’re looking for something delicious to do that weekend and are in southern Oregon (or willing to travel) this will be an incredible event. I’ll definitely be sharing some behind the scenes moments, stories, and photos both here and on YouTube.

Phew! That’s a lot of fun news, isn’t it! Thanks for checking out the Sweetea community blog <3 I can’t wait to share some great books, delicious recipes, and more fun as the year progresses.

May your teacup always be full.

Cheers!

Dani
